In Dominican Republic Newsletter January 2013

The Journey .

From Canada to Oklahoma USA, to Sosua Dominican Republic. Our journey really began in 2006, when we first visited DR. We felt a stirring in our hearts then to return someday to bring the gospel to the people of DR. But before we could return we needed to be trained to complete the task God was giving us. This is when in Feb 2009 we decided to leave jobs, comforts of family and friends and go to Tulsa , ( more specifically Broken Arrow), Oklahoma , to follow our dream to attend Rhema Bible Training College. A college of great distinction in the area of training, equipping and preparing men and women for full time ministry. This school was founded on the principles of faith and leading of God by Bro. Kenneth E Hagin / Pastor Kenneth W Hagin. The College still today operates with  the mandate given to Bro Hagin years ago to " Go teach my people Faith".

Well its almost too hard to believe , but we are finally after 7 years of standing on Gods promise we are in Sosua Dominican Republic. On Nov 7,2012 we left the comforts of  home of 3 1/2 yrs in Tulsa OK, USA behind for the mission experience of Sosua Dominican Republic.

Now that we have arrived in Dominican  Republic there is much to do. We have established a place to live in a very safe modern community in Sosua , DR called Sosua Ocean Village. This is a very family friendly community with the majority of residents being Russian Speaking families. They have received us very well and have made us feel so welcome in this community.

Mario, wife and youngest son.
While the transportation issues can be expensive i.e. car rental , we have secured a low cost rental and are finding our way around Sosua easier than when we first arrived. The Dominicans are such gracious, loving people who long   to make you feel welcome. We have met many nice Dominican people and have heard of a lot of there stories, of life on the North Coast. One such family is Mario aka Super Mario and his family. We first met Mario on Sosua beach a very popular tourist beach in Sosua Bay. He has worked on the beach for several years. He has a modest home in Maranatha with his Spouse , and two sons. His elder of the two sons spends a great deal of time in a baseball recruiting program in Santiago DR. He has dreams of being in major league some day.

Dr Russo , Haitian Doctor.

Life is simple here , people are people no matter where you go. In the Dominican the people live in homes of modest size and style to basic shacks on hillsides in very poor conditions. The power grid in the country is very unreliable at times and thus makes power outages an almost daily  issue .
Health care for many Dominicans is accessible if you have the money and if not then you will see some with rather severe medical issues , in some cases because they have not been able to see a doctor.  On one such visit to a local clinic that a family from The USA operate to help Dominican mothers with children in need of medical care. I met a wonderful Doctor named Dr Russo, from Haiti originally. A very kind hearted , soft spoken Haitian man who has dedicated his life to helping those less fortunate in medical clinics near Sosua / Cabarette. DR.

Since first arriving here we have had the privilege of meeting some wonderful missionaries that have been here for a very long time. Great folks like Phil and Donna , with Servants Heart Ministries.  Rick and Barb Sucer , Patrick and Jenny, Mike and Lori , Pastor and Mrs Goodman ( who are planting Ocean Side Christian Fellowship Church , Sosua DR), Tony and Melissa Luther,  and so many more.....all doing such great works here to further the kingdom of God and fulfill the great commission Jesus gave the church in Matthew 28:16-20.

We are just so thankful to be here and to step into that perfect plan that God would have fr us to do. Our Hearts desire is to be faithful to our calling, be thankful and ready for what ever God asks us to do. While one of my greatest challenges remains mastering the Spanish language I know that many before me have encountered and conquered the challenge , and so shall I .
Our prayer is that you will keep us in your daily prayers, so that we may complete all that we put our hand to. That we might see lives changed, families changed, and hearts turned to a life of serving Christ . We ask that if you feel like you would like to be part of what we are doing in the North Coast of the Dominican Republic that you would prayerfully consider partnering with us by donating online or by sending a cash / check donation to the following addresses
